CLASS C power amplifier , circuit diagram ,characteristics ,advantage and disadvantage:-

Class c power amplifier is biased to operate less than 180° of the given input signal cycle of the tuned circuit in the output.
However it will provide a full cycle of the output signal for the fundamental frequency of the tuned circuit of the output. The use of such amplifier is limited for a fixed frequency as occurs in the communication circuit.

Some special short points:-

  • Quiescent (Q) points are below cut off region.
  • Increase in efficiency (>90%).
  • CLASS c power amplifier has higher distortion.
  • It has less conducting angle.
      <180°,(<100°)
      [60°]
  • Circuit is formed with the help of RFC ( radio frequency coil )and tank circuit.

Characteristics of CLASS C power amplifier  :-

For construction of CLASS C power amplifier we use a NPN type transistor,a RFC,a inductor and a capacitor.

Advantage:-
  • CLASS C power amplifier is used in application of RF oscillator and RF amplifier.
  • It is Used in high frequency.
  • It is  used for FM transmitter.
  • It is used in Booster amplifier.
  • It's size is very small.
  • It uses very less component.
  • Circuit diagram is very simple.
  • Low in cost.

Disadvantage:-
  • It has very low linearity.
  • It is not suitable for audio application.
  • It mixes a lot of noise.
